Jimmy Bodin

A self-taught perfumer whose experimental R.A.W. blends grew into The Unleashed Apothecary, and the nose behind Jousset.

The story

Jimmy Bodin comes from a modest background. His mother loved luxury perfume, and Jousset, his best-known house, carries her name; his father taught him the value of hard work. He taught himself perfumery after falling for an oriental perfume he could no longer afford, following two personal mottos: "Try and you will see, be daring and patient" and "If you don't find what you want, do it on your own." He believes projection and longevity are earned through careful work, not added as an afterthought.

The work

The Unleashed Apothecary grew out of Exclusive Blend R.A.W., a collection distributed by Jousset. Its perfumes macerate for anything from a day to several years and mature in handmade glass bottles; favourite formulas evolve through numbered versions, such as Tonkin Tonka 3. His other brands include Adi Ale Van, Le Frag, Marble Oud and Perestish.
