A Scottish perfumer from Edinburgh, founder of Jorum Studio and the nose behind Neandertal Dark, Us and Them.
The story
Euan McCall's grandparents ran a horticulture business and passed on to him a love of aroma, nature and curiosity. Early in his training he met Dr George Dodd, an Irish master perfumer who had retired to the Scottish Highlands, whose work covered pheromones, whisky aroma chemistry and natural materials. After Dodd died in 2020, Jorum became the custodian of his raw-material archive.
The work
He has run Jorum in Edinburgh since 2010, with his partner Chloe Mullen, who designs the packaging in-house. The studio is self-funded and makes everything itself, in batches of 100 to 1,000 bottles per perfume. Its collections include Progressive Botany (Arborist, Phloem, Nectary) and Selective Memory (Fantosmia). He also composes for other houses, among them the French brand Senyokô.
